Homework will be given out on a Thursday. Often homework will be something for you to do or to talk through rather than written work that needs handing in.

Task Homework – This will be updated on our homework page on a Thursday and will be linked to our current topic.

Talk Homework – This will be sent home on a Thursday for the children to Talk about with someone at home, the children will complete their Just Write on a Monday.

Spellings – Each child will be sent home with spellings on a Friday. These will be some of the year 3/4 spellings which can be found in your child’s communication diary. The children will then be tested on their spellings and complete a blind test on a new set which will be sent out the same day to learn for the following week.

Reading – We would like the children to read regularly at home, please record what your child has read in their communication diary.

On the remote learning/ homework page you will find your child’s weekly timetable which will give you an overview of their learning in school and their homework tasks. You will then need to log into Showbie and open the homework folder to access the tasks.

The Year 4 Curriculum

Below you can find the link  to key documents which will give you as a parent or carer an overview of what our Year 4 pupils will be learning this year and the skills that they will need to develop.

Click here to find out more about each topic and, as ever, if you have any questions about your child’s learning then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Year 4 children are to be dropped off at the pupil entrance gates, the children can go to their classrooms from 8:40am via the pupil entrance doors where there are members of staff there to register them. Our school day starts at 8:50am and after this time, please take your child to the school office.

We would ask that you encourage your child to be independent when coming in to school. It is very important for your child’s development for them to be able to take responsibility for themselves and their own property.

At the end of the day, Year 4 children are collected from the small yard just through the pupil entrance gates at 3:10pm. We ask parents collecting children from Year 4 to stand by the wall. We work with a “hands up” collection system. Your child will not be sent to an adult collecting until a member of staff has seen who is there to collect. If someone different is due to collect your child please indicate so in the communication diary.

At least 1 member of the staff will be available at the beginning and end of each day to answer any questions that you may have.  Any of the staff will be able to answer your questions or direct you to the appropriate person.  If you wish to make an appointment to see the teachers, this can be arranged at a mutually convenient time.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to any member of the Key Stage 2 team.

PE Day

In year 4 the PE Day is on a Thursday. Please come to school wearing your full PE kit – you can find a list of uniform here.
